Green mosquitoes in tank.

Lately, i noticed some insect larvae in my Cynops tank, at first they were so tiny i thought they were another kind of worm...but then they grew and started to make "homes". The larvae live in a tube made of algae just like a trichoptera larvae would do. There are a lot of these little tubes so i started trying to do some research to find out what they were. Well today i found out.....mosquitoes. The adults are bright green and tiny. Has anybody else ever encountered this species in their tanks? I had never had this type of mosquito before, and i´m wondering if it may be harmfull in any way. If anyone´s keen on entomology, please tell me if i should get rid of them somehow or just let them be and serve as food for the larvae. Thanx.

I think they might be Chironomids, but i just don´t know...

THis surely sounds like a chironomid. These often have larvae that make a tunnel (the well known bloodworms) and some are bright green as adults. I'd say no worries. Sounds like an extra food source

    with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
