Girl or Boy????

Hi there ive had my axie for about 4 months and it is about 20 cm in length i am trying to work out weither it is a boy or a girl, i think it is a girl but your advice would be greatly appreciated. 100_1771.jpg

It looks like a girl. I could tell better if the cloaca was shown. It looks a little lopsided in the gill department.

Yes she is a bit lop sided in the gill department but they are growing back slowly, they had been bitten off by another axie before i got her, i think i will have to rename her my children named her Ralphie and its not really a girlie name hahaha :lol:

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
