hi i have recently got a second axie after completing the 30 days isolation i introduced him to my other axie both are of similar size although my new one is natural colour. both axies which were quite active the other day are no longer doing anything there is plenty of room in the tank and hiding places and good airation of the water although not a strong current .

also my new axie has been raised i believe on a bait other than the axie pellets this has meant that i have fed him bloodworms while he has been in isolation as i didnt want to be cruel if i sop feeding him blood worms will he eat the pellets?

I suspect they are just settling down, keep an eye on them and they should be fine.
With regards to feeding you may be able to tempt it with pellets. I don't feed my adult these but the juveniles will eat them mainly if they see the pellet drop by them..they kind of snap at it as it goes past. Since they are now mainly eating worms they are less keen on the pellets and I usually end up removing quite a lot more than I have used to.

I was meaning more like he'll probably eat it if he catches it moving. i.e as it falls past him. If he then like the pellets he might root abouyt for them in the tank. Before my juveniles became food snobs they would wait ( not too patiently) inside their food bowl . I would then drop a small ammount of pellets down on them, if they finished them quickly they would have more. An hour or two l would hoover up any remains. Try him on pellets and watch and see what he does....

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
