Hey there what is the current school of thought on locusts as a food? Kiro absolutely loves them. Are they a good staple?
Currently he is getting stage 3 locusts (5 being when they get wings) he has had 3 in the last 2 days

Now and then I feed mine some crickets (leftover from a gecko...). They really like them and try to catch them from the surface.
But it's not the best choice considering Ca - Po ratio though and the chitin parts wont get digested very easily (I think the biggest parts of chitin will be legs and wings so your stage 3 will be better than adults). So now and then it's quite okay to feed some, but it is as always with food - a variety is important.

Hi Neurus,

I would sugeest that locusts are great for a variation but I would not use them as a staple. This having been said if its working for you then all good.

Good Luck

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
