hello i dont have any axies yet but in the process of seeting up the tank and i wanted to know about air stones i'v red about people putting them in just for axies to play with so does this mean you dont leave them in how long do you put them in for ect...

Jofish, I am having trouble understanding what you mean by your post "so does this mean you dont leave them in". It is helpful if you use correct spelling and English as a lot of people here don't speak English as a first language.

Anyway, I think you are asking if you can leave an air stone in the tank? Yes this is fine, you can leave them in there, but make sure it is not creating a lot of current as axolotls don't like too much current. Air stones can help agitate the water and prevent films building up so they are handy to have (but not a requirement).

i have a long one in my tank which is set to produce large bubbles but not to quickly. I also put it under some big chunky rocks (which even i couldn't swallow! :D) so the bubbles go between them. The axies love to swim through them and sit on the rocks- i like to think of it as an axie jacuzzi!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
