Here's my favourite model amphibians:

The goldy one is my most treasured, given to me by my granny who saw it in a charity shop.
The 2 rubber frogs are from charity shops too, the stone toad is from Lesotho South Africa given to me by my dad (He also gave me a real crocodile head which apparently died of natural causes, he had to gain special papers to get it home).

Here are my "species mixing disasters". Can I keep a hellbender with my Cynops orientalis? I can if they're plastic!

I think you can keep a C.orientalis with a hellbender if they're both of equal size. lol.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
