As a new member I just wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself to the community.

I am a preschool teacher and about 1 year ago inherited a delightful axolotyl named Jane from a collegue who was unable to continue keeping her at my old preschool. So Jane came with me and our adventure together began.
We have had many ups and downs as I learn about her and how to best care for her. I must say that most of my learning has occurred on this site as a guest browsing the site.

So a big hello from me and I look forward to chatting from time to time.

Miss Jojo

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
