With tiny axies and mini daphnia scooting around two huge tanks, I was wondering how on earth to clean up all the mess (and believe me, with 40 of the little darlings, there's a LOT of mess and dead/unwanted food) without upsetting them or causing casualties
So I bought a hand-pump vacuum from eBay. Rubbish! A lot of work to get going, and it created a backflow that stirred up far more mess than there was in the 1st place!!!
However, on a trip to Sainsbury's this morning I bought a large, plastic, turkey baster for just 99p. It works GREAT! Sucks enough of the muck, doesn't cause any blow-back, and it's easy to clean/store. The babies don't get sucked into it either because you have more control over it than the pump-type cleaners. All in all, it's a *****star buy!
I HIGHLY recommend one
