Hi, I have a 3' tank, should I fill it to the top or not?

Many Thanks
Alisonx

Hi alison
I would fill it up ( 5-10 cm from the top ). The more water you have , the more stable it will be ( temp and parameters ).
Hope this helps.

I agree with seedy - for water quality and stability it is best to have as much water in your tank as possible. If you do not have a lid on your tank, leave some air on top so that your Axolotls can't jump out when they are startled.

Hi Tom,

I believe that what may have been meant was at least as deep as your axie is long. As Daniel and Seedy have said more water better stability.

Good Luck

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
