one of my C.orientalis has a couple white toes. is this bad? what should i do?

Have you had the newt long, do you know if the color change is recent? Do the white toes look fuzzy at all? A picture would help a lot. Also, how is the animal behaving - still eating and acting normal or lethargic at all?

she eats like a monster:lick:. they dont look fuzzy, so i dont think its fungus. i got them in early march.i think you can see the bones inside(hard to tell). ill try to get a picture

They do indeed, one of mine has really pale orange patchs on the bottom of his back legs, toes and pads of the foot.
Post a pic so we can check it out, but odd colours arent uncommon in orientalis.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
