Hi,
I do weekly water changes in my axies aquarium (As axie keepers know they are very messy.). I also do weekely water changes in my T.verrucosus and p.waltl tanks, they are in pairs in two 20 UK gallon tanks and dont seem to make as much mess, i also use Fluval power filters in both which keeps the water very clear, so i was wondering if weekly water changes are needed i mean how often do you lot do water changes in your tanks for theese species.
Thanks

I think it depends on the ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels. If they all are normal, i would do 10% a week or 20-25% every 2 weeks.

OK i was thinking somthing along those lines,
thanks

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
