Does anyone happen to have any experience with buying red-spotted newts from Ward's Bio? I placed an order with Carolina Bio, but I just cancelled it because, as it turns out, they don't have the right species of newt. I'm considering Ward's, just as soon as I get my money back, as it'll be faster, the right species, AND about $15 cheaper. Sounds good. Almost too good. I've done some research, and I've heard both good things and bad things about Ward's. Anyone have any testimonies on the subject, good or bad? Preferably from people who've ordered the red-spotted newts, but I'll take any advice I can get.

Thanks, all!

Oh, one more thing-- If you did, in fact, order the red-spotted newts, do they typically sell terrestrial red efts or aquatic adults? I'm really interested in getting some red efts, preferably on the younger side. I want to raise them, myself.

If you want to raise newts you should buy captive bred animals. You'd be able to get eggs or young larvae.
(the ones you want to order are wild caught)

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
