My favorite little larvae hasn't eaten today, and now it's floating upside down due to swallowing some air. It wasn't like this earlier when I was trying to feed it along with the others, but it seemed to refuse food when I was trying to feed it. Now its swallowed air and it's floating. :(

Any tips on what to do to help it because don't larvae need to eat about twice a day? It's nearly impossible to try to feed it when its floating up cause i normally drop little cut up blackworms to them., and it doesn't seem interested in the microworms either. :/ I remember reading it can pass the air if it ate, but well.. seems like I'm in a tough situation. ><

Try popping it in the shallowest water you can, this will stop the floating and turning over. Hopefully he will pass the air and eat then.
If you pop some worm in with him he might just grab it.
good luck and fingers crossed

It passed away this morning. :( I tried to put it in shallow water, but it remained upside down so I wasn't able to feed it at all. It was the unique one of the bunch too cause all of my larvae have black eyes except for this one. ><

Oh no, that is a shame. My condolences. The poor little thing.

Thanks. The other ones are doing quite well from what I can see. Bunch of little fatties they are. I can't tell if they're getting feet yet though. Should be around the time since its been 2 weeks.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
