Re: newt tanks

Well, i don´t want to discourage you, but both tanks look rather unsuitable for newts. The terrestrial tank needs more space, and more hiding places, plus a small water bowl. What are those leaves for?
The water tank is definitely not apropriate. It´s way too small, the water looks filthy, and the set-up itself is too simple.
Take a look at the terrarium sections on this website, and take some ideas, also feel free to ask as many questions as you need to learn how to house this animals.

Re: newt tanks

And regarding your other post about re-releasing animals: This is HIGHLY frowned upon, and is usually illegal. Releasing animals that have been in captivity can introduce diseases and parasites into wild populations, possibly decimating the entire population.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
