Do pet amphibians need to hibernate? I've read that a cooling down in the 50's is needed for breeding sometimes, but other than that, I haven't found anything on the subject. I am wondering because I am thinking of getting Bufo americanus(probably Wild Caught) from a rescue organization and I'm wondering whether I should hibernate it in the winter. I know some Chelonians need to hibernate in order to start up their reproductive cycles and complete normal life expectancies. Is this the case in amphibians?
