Yes, you appear to have a leucistic axolotl. Why do you think otherwise?

I kinda figured, but a lot of the time when you're looking at them you get a pink reflection off the back of the eye... So I wasn't too sure. I've got two and they're both only about 3 inches...so they don't have the largest eyes in the world. Good to know though!

This is just a reflection of the retina. If it was albino, it would not have any dark pigments (melanophores) at all. Definitely a leucistic - and a nice one if I dare say so.

A very pretty axolotl!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
