I am currently in the middle of cycling my Axies tank. I'm aware that I shouldn't clean any of the ornaments, and just do water changes. However, the inside of the glass is getting to be quite dirty, theres lines across it where my Axie has rubbed up against it. Can I at least clean the inside of the glass?

I have cleaned a number of tanks and cleaned the glass as well. I prefer to clean the most viewable parts and leave the beneficial bacteria on areas that do not offend the eye (for example: cleaning the front pane of glass and not the other 3 sides). You are right not to clean the ornaments. Good luck!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
