I just bought them for 2days.Their size is about 3 inches but I still don't know what are their sex ? :p Now, somebody give the advices for me to remove rocks and replace with sand or use bare tank. What should be another items to add on in my tank ?

but I still confuse about light. Should I turn on 24 hrs or less than this ?

this is my first axolotl'stank,if you have something that usefully for me please give an advices to me. Thank you

Your axies are very cute, however you really should think about taking out the gravel because they will swallow it and get an impaction and thats really bad. as for light, I think I was told that they either don't have eyelids or have transparent lids, whichever one it is, they can't get away from the light unless they hide, and they are also from underground lakes in mexico where there isn't much light at all, so I always keep my tank in a dark room unless it is feeding time or something and then I turn on the light. I'm sure many others can give way better advice than me but I just wanted to let you know what I think is right.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
