Im Jish. Ive been hanging around this site for a little while soaking up as much info as possible before I made my first Herp. purchase. Unfortunatly living in Australia Severely limits ones choices to axolotls and nothing but axolotls so my first choice was a bit of a no brainer.
Im very glad I finaly decided to buy one because they are such amazing little creatures. Anyway im interested in chatting so drop me a line. Especialy if you are a local breeder (Newcastle NSW) because im realising more and more that pet store workers have no idea how to look after them and its very disheartening seeing so many sick axys.

Welcome to the forum!

There may be breeders in Newcastle who have listed their axolotls in the 'advertisements' area of the forum - when you log in just scroll down to the bottom of the webpage to find the 'Wanted' and 'For Sale' sections.

    with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
