Hi there,

My axolotls have recently bred (first time) and I've kept approx 30 eggs (although a few look like they won't develop).

I've got a Brine Shrimp Hatchery and a culture of Microworms.

I've read conflicting things on the net regarding how many times you feed them a day and how much at one feeding... can anyone tell me what worked for them and how much they need regarding both the baby brine shrimp and the microworms?

Thanks heaps in advance! :D

I fed mine twice a day with brine shrimp till they where large enough to take blood worm etc. I still continued with twice daily feeds until they got rear legs as this reduced incidences of missing body parts. Quantities are a small problem as all I did was suck in a quantity of shrimp into the net , rinsed and then given to the axolittle.

Thanks for that Bellabelloo, I just don't want to underfeed them... sounds great though

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
