Hi everyone, just thought i'd introduce myself to you all.

My name's Darren, I'm 16 from Scotland, currently have no hobbies, though looking after a newt will be one soon.

I am hopefully getting a Japanese Fire Belly in the next few weeks, I have all the stuff ready for it, and just thought that it would be nice to have somewhere to go with my questions and newt stories :). I also saw all the information on this website and thought it would be reliable and in-depth. I don't want to be a blind poster, registering on the forum because I dont know what to feed my newt a week after buying it, I'm doing my research :) .

I'll get some pictures of me with said newt once I get him/her, and decide on a name :)

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
