Hello Forum members.

I'd personally like to thank you.

If you recall about a week ago I had some Newts, which were said to be salimanders.

They were belaived to be salimanders for about 18months, but never had slaimander envioment, all they had was gravel under their feet, and a log to hide under, thats it, no water, nor food.

Anyways, since taking them on into my care, and finially finding out they were actually Spanish Ribbed Newts, the suitable envioment was made.

And today, I decided to do a total water change, and move there tank about a bit.

All I can say is WOW!!!! :D :D The thinest one is the most active now, where before it was almost dead! I am currently watching him attack a half frozen block of Bloodworms atm, and its sooooooooo weird knowing I've saved them :D

When i took them out of thir tank, they actually fort to get away, where before they just lay there, almost dead.

I am sooo happy :D

So a BIG thank you! Hopefully I can fatten the thinest one up a bit, and find out if I have males or females.... or maybe both :D, Now that would be awesome, if I had them breeding :p

Anyways, heres the progress pics..

These are when I had them:

They are alive, and kicking now :D

Thank you ever so much!! :D

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
