So I finally got my axolotls moved to the new house. The whole process turned out to be quite easy. I just scooped them into their own tupperwares and put them in a cooler with ice. The tank was the harder part because we had to remove all the water and get it into my car. But all in all the process was nothing to stress over. They seem to be doing fine. They are still requiring a little adjusting but they seem to be handling the move well.
I was really worried about the water temperature in the new house. The new house has a swamp cooler rather than AC so I didn't think it would be cool enough in here. The temp. was at 72 degrees F when I first put them in. However, I placed a small fan above their tank and it has dropped the water down to 68 degrees F! It really makes a big difference.
Just though I'd share my adventures in moving!

Congratulations to you! I'm glad to read it, too, because I have my own move coming at the end of the month and I am dreading it. One question, though: what is a swamp cooler?

Hey, that's good to hear! See, I told you they weren't quite so much hassle when you're already settled in.

Thanks Brella!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
