I just wanted to thank this forum for some ace advice since I joined. I scour the pages almost daily for tips and tricks that no aquarium shop seems to know!

The best one by far has been the fridging. It is without doubt (in my eyes) the most important tip an axolotl owner can learn. You can get them out of harms way so easily if you aren't sure if the tank is up to scratch, it calms and heals them after a fellow loxie has had a chomp and they almost always poop within hours of going in there! Brilliant! :D

So yeah just wanted to say thanks and to let you know that there loads of people who, even if they don't post much, are absorbing all your threads

And don't forget to add any tips or tricks that you may discover too Dawn. Anyone no matter how established they are in their hobby can always learn more.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
