gravid, fat or bloat?

hi all!
I have 3 chinese fire bellied newts and one of them is slightly fat im not sure what is wrong with him here are a picture of him or her (i cant tell).

p.si use sand as substrate so it cant be choking on gravel

I don't see anything wrong with her.

Maybe a LITTLE chubby, but not seriously.

you might be right but i have another picture with her in a diffrent angle.And she looks alot fatter also i have seen a few pictures of gravid newts and they look similair.But you be the judges.

i also have one from before i thought something might be wrong

Don´t worry, it looks perfectly fine, in fact they can get chubier. I don´t think she might be gravid though.

    with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
