I got my salamander from the wilderness... and i am trying to feed it those pellets you can buy at any pet store... but it wont eat them(its winter so live food is hard to get!) Do i just give it some time?

The salamander will almost certainly not eat pellets, no matter how long you wait. That just isn't a suitable food for a terrestrial sal. There are lots of options for live food. Pet shops have crickets and waxworms (which should be dusted with a calcium/D powder). Live earthworms are sold at bait shops and even Walmart.

Welcome to the forum Kumba. It appears that you may be new to keeping tigers. Here is an excellent article on the care, housing and feeding of tigers from our Caudata Culture section - it would be helpful for you to review:

As Jen stated, tigers won't eat pelleted food. They are carnivorous predators that seek food by the motion of prey.

Thanks... by the way its a red back salamander, I mixed it up sorry.

Redbacks won't eat pelleted food either.

Just curious, how do you confuse a 12+ inch chunky tiger salamander with a 4 inch thin redback? ;)

It was probably because I was reading a thread about tiger's before I wrote this.

Makes sense. Redbacks will eat tiny live food, and their care is similar to tiger sals.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
