Hi everyone,

I`m new to the forums and I have to admit that I spend hours everyday reading the articles here, they are very interesting.

I am very interested in getting a couple (male and female) Axolotl or a couple of Tiger Salamander for pets, (and eventually breeding), the problem is that I live in Costa Rica and none of the aquariums or petstores have them here, is there away to import them or do you guys know if anyone would be willing to send a couple of young specimens or eggs?

I can get a permit to import them.

Thanks in advance for your help.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
