Are there any rocks besides limestone that can't be in a newt tank? I have a rock about as big as a baseball and it is round and black and I want to use it to help keep the current down.

I'm no rock expert, but I'd guess that any smooth, hard rock would probably be okay. I'd stay away from anything that's flaky, soft, chalky, easily chipped, etc, because these could leech minerals into your water.
