Currently I have 2 Cynops orientalis (Chinese Fire bellied newts) in a 20 gallon tank that is filled up to about 2 inches (from the top of the substrate to the water level) with water. Lots of Java moss is in the water and they have a small hideaway. They also have a large rock that sticks out of the water as a "land area" but they do not go on it much anymore. Currently, they are about 3 inches long from their snout to the end of their tail. Are they adults yet, and should I heighten the water level?
