i remember readin about axolotle pellets or salomn pellets but dont actually remember. could somebody clear this up for mel, as i was only able to get worms in a bait shop when i was down my caravan, the season has ended i am resorting to frozon foods wich i do not like. (also worms i dig up are really small)

also, the only slugs that i can find in my garden now is the tiger ones (gray/silver with lots of black dots) are these safe for axolotles?

thanks guys in advance

There are a variety of pellets available. Any high-quality carnivore pellet will be fine to feed your axolotls. Hikari makes a good one, as does Rangen (although I don't know if either of these are available in the UK). Soft or sinking pellets are best, although you could soak hard pellets before feeding them to your axolotl.

As far as slugs: I would be wary. Some are toxic (I don't know if these ones are or not), and they can carry parasites.

I'm in the UK and have only been able to track down halibut pellets. Mine seem to like them though :)

Every bait shop I've asked for salmon pellets in they've looked at me like I'm mad and have never heard of them!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
