Hey guys, hopefully I'm just being paranoid but after losing one already I don't want anything to happen to Ziggy as well. He's been in the fridge since his sister died, about a week or so. I change the water every morning with fresh dechlorinated water which I keep next to him in the fridge. He hasn't eaten in there at all, but I left an earthworm overnight a few days ago which he didn't touch. He's getting skinny but I'm guessing it's too cold for him to want to eat. He's in a small container but it's longer than him and it's got a tea towel over the lid. The temp is between 6 and 7 degrees. Am I doing anything wrong?

I just checked in on him (I only disturb him once a day to change the water, and sometimes I check before work to make sure he's ok) and he was sitting on his side a little bit, slightly tilted. Then he swam around a bit in a kind of wonky way and then sat still, flat on the bottom. Is this anything to worry about? Is there anything else I should doing? Seeing as my other one was on her side when she died I'm slightly freaked out.

I can't take him out, it's way too hot... I'm waiting for some silicone to cure and not smell so I can try hooking up the chiller again.

Thanks ><

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
