Hi there everyone! I first found this site a few months back when I was preparing to bring my Axolotls home and have finally got around to signing up! My boy Hellboy and my girl Chainblade, named by my 8 and 9 year old sons, have had their first spawn. I gave the majority of the eggs to the petshop I got the parents from as I didn't fancy trying to rear too many at my first attempt. I have probably 20 odd little ones in the process of hatching rite now. I visited the petshop today and they have probly 80 or so already hatched as they kept them in the shop in brighter warmer conditions. I look forward to posting some pics when I get organised. Wish me luck!:cool:

Congratulations on the hatchlings - I wish you good luck and great fun in watching them grow. I betcha you're back here in one week asking "when will the legs finally come??" haha.

Love the names. Mine are Axel and Lotte. :rolleyes:

    with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
