Illness/Sickness: Spanish Ribbed Newts with Parkinsons' Disease?

Hi,

I have some very old Spanish Ribbed Newts, from source, they are of 10 years old. And some website suggested that SRN has a lifespan of 8-12 years.

I have observed all my SRN males occasionally shake their body parts, sometime the entire limb, sometime only a single digit. And they can shake for minutes. So, I am wondering if this is a muscle problem of old newts, or a SRN males unique behavior. Is it possibly a behavior to lurk preys toward them? Or a defensive posture? Or a breeding behavior?

    with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
