Taking out an aquatic newt to feed it on land....mmmm...not the best idea.
I don´t know if you did this just for the video or if it is the usual way. It´s definitely stressing for the newt, and it´s soooo much easier to just feed them in the water...
The newt looks good though, good luck :)

That's too cute! That really gives me hope that handfeeding's IS possible if needed for these newts!

At first I thought that feeding using tweezers was the only way to feed red wigglers and earthworms. However, I realized that if you clean if off then drop it in the water, they will find it eventually. I found this out by accident, so now I just throw 5 worsm in there instead of standing there for 45 minutes hand feeding them

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
