Hello everyone, I think this is the right place to put this in. Well I'm about to build a newt home in a 10 gallon tank. Well before I start I want to check out some Fire Bellied Newts out, but the issue is that I can't find none. I have checked Petco's, Petsmart's, and some local petshops, but none of these stores carry FBN. So I'm asking anyone here that may know of a place that may carry some. I'm located in Denver Colorado. Oh and sorry for asking a dumb question, but i have no clue of where to go.
Thanks

Hey Dave,
You've certainly come to the right place. Your best bet is to post an add in the Wanted section or look in the For Sale section. Cynops (FBNs) are pretty commonly kept and lots of people here breed them. You're better off getting them from someone here as well because they will definitely be captive bred and you have the support of the entire forum. This post may be moved by moderators, but definitely check out the For Sale and Wanted sections. Look for Cynops.

Thanks Alex,
Wow that was a quick response. I came to know about this site through google, and that was today. So thanks i will go and check the "for sale" threads.

This is truly a fantastic site with many many many knowledgeable people. Check out Caudata Culture as well. There's great information there about care of newts. You can also post more specific question in the Cynops subforum.

Best of Luck,
Alex

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
