OK so I know of a few people who house there tigers in groups and I'm considering making a tiger salamander set-up with 2 or 3 in it.

But first (as always) I have some questions

1. Would 48"x12"x18" (LxWxH) be big enough for 3 tiger salamanders?
2. I currently have 1 female A, tigrinum. Now I've asked my local reptile shop to find out the species of tiger salamanders they can order in, and I know a couple other shops in my area can get A, mavortium, (please I don’t want a massive debate) can these 2 species be housed together? I know they were for a long time considered 1 species, I'm also aware of the general risks of housing tigers together, but are there any more risks or an increased risk i should be aware of with putting these 2 species together? has any1 had any experience with housing these 2 species together.
3. Can people tell me there experience’s housing tigers together?
4. Any pictures of set-ups?

Yes.

Yes. Your pet store must be unlike every other pet store on Earth if they can distinguish tiger species for you.

It works just fine, they have the same care requirements. Individuals from different regions may have higher temperature tolerances though.

4. Any pictures of set-ups?
Do a search of the forum - there must be hundreds of tiger vivarium photos by now.

And this is now in the beginner section - I am not sure how it got approved for the Advanced section.

Yes.

there just ringing there supplier and asking what species they can get.

sorry i wasn't sure if this counted for an advanced question or not.

cheers for the help.

Yeah, that is unlikely to be successful, to say the least.

could i house 2 in a 36"x12"x12" (sorry i have various size tanks kicking around and i'm just trying to work out what would be best space shape and size wise)

Two adults would do well in this size of viv if all terrestrial and not partially aquatic - I do not advocate even a partially aquatic set up.

My experience is that they tend to get along well...unless you have an overly aggressive feeder(s). In that case, the animal may tend to 'snap' at anything that moves including a tank mate's appendages.

The new animal(s) will need to be quarrantined.

yeah it'll be a terrestrial viv, and i know about feeding response and other risks like that and i always quarrantine any new arrivials well away from any of my caudata

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
