Ok, so i knew newts may display breeding behaviours in a pretty...free way. Meaning that it doesn´t matter if it´s male or female, your species or not...you tail fan and see what happens.
But right now, one of my L.vulgaris males is tail fanning like crazy to a snail! A.......snail!! He´s been doing so for the last 5 min or so.
This trully adds a new dimentiom to "blind love" in the world of caudates to me xDDD

Lol. That is hilarious! My male dobro only fans the females but one time I watched him tail fanning a female and she left, he had his back to her and didnt notice she was gone for about 5 minutes!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
