Hi there, my name is Amanda AKA Rimy
I'm located in Florida (the weather here is so weird!)
I have just recently found out about axolotls' from my fiancee and I'm so excited to learn more about them and eventually own one or two! :D

Well.. that's really all there is to know about me! I hope to learn more from this site and its members!

Welcome!

This is great place for axolotl information. The community has put together some of the best information available on their care and housing here:

Welcome aboard! It's nice to meet you. I don't have axolotles, (I have Chinese firebelly newts and other critters) but I find them interesting. I hope to run across you a lot on the boards!~

Have a great day/ night,
Critter Mom

Hello.I'm looking forward to hearing all about them. When you are all set up, and ready to get some.

Thank you everyone! You all are so nice and I'll be sure to update my progress when I do actually begin to get some 'critters' in my home! Take care!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
