Can I put a.maculatum and p.cinereus in a tank together they are from the same location.

I wouldn't. P. Cinereus is much smaller, and most people really frown on mixed species enclosures. They almost always go bad sooner or later. The chances of accidental predation are a risk I wouldn't take. Who knows the result if the Pleth was grabbed? It may excrete a toxin and both would die...I really would advise against this mix(or any for that matter). Good luck with them!

I don't think 'accidental' predation would be the case. Almost certainly the spotted would eat the redback pretty quickly.

Ambystomid salamanders are usually aggressive towards Plethodontids I heard. Just keep them apart, red backs don't need to big of an enclosure singly.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
