Can a blue spotted breed with a oregan enstania. I am wondering, because on my last hike I found an oregan enstana with tny blue spots.

WOuld most lilely be a local variation or an ensatina hybrid with another ensatina subspecies.

It's an Oregon Ensatina... several of the Ensatinas are black with blue spots as juveniles. some adult Oregon Ensatinas retain their blue spots. E. xanthroptica has blue spotted juveniles that lose this color completely. Ensatinas are incredibly variable in color even within the 7 recognized subspecies...


It's cool that you found an adult that was this color, or was it a juvenile?
