Hi, i just purchased this breeding pair of salamandra and had a question about paper towels. It did not say on the packaging anything about bleached or not. I was wondering if these were ok. The brand is "BASIC". here is a pic of their setup in a 20 gallon long. I have recently placed a dish of non chlorinated water in the enclosure as the breeder said this female may be ready to drop her young.

Regular white paper towels are just fine. And yes, adding a water dish is a good idea. Can they climb in and out easily? An alternative to the water dish is to tip the tank and create a pond on the lower end.

I use paper towels all the time, especially for new animals. I just use white ones and not the ones illustrations on them.

Can someone please explain to me what sterile amphibian ringers solution is and where i can purchase it? I believe the female i purchased has runny eyes, its almost like mucus secretion from them. She still eats but i don't think she can see much. I will post pics.,,

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
