Hi there ..... Amby seems to have some white spots as pictured. She has been through a great ordeal through summer as a friend had her and didn't know how to look after her.
Finally I have saved her from starvation, heat stress and ultimate doom.
Now that she is eating and out of her 2 month stay in our fridge with countless nights of trying to hand feed her, I was hoping to get rid of her skin problem as she is doing real well now.

Is the area you're asking about sort of reflective? That's part of the normal natural skin pattern and is not a problem.

Hi Skip Logic

I can't see anything to worry about in your photos it looks very much like the colouration of your axolotl

Hi Skip,

The white reflective patches on the tail are normal axolotl pigmentation.

Cheers

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
