I have 4 marbled salamander (Ambystoma opacum) juveniles. I keep them on a half top soil half eco earth sunbstrate with plenty of moss and bark hides. My question is it is now summer here and occasionally the tank temp creeps up into the high seventies.
I am afraid this is way to warm for them and I mist them frequently on the hot days. They have not gone off food or anything. Their tank is seeded with wood lice and they eat a earthworm every three days. Is their anyway to lower their temp to a more acceptable level?
We have a bad mold problem in our basement so I am afraid to move them down there. What else could I do? My fiance will not let me turn on the air conditioner until it gets in the high eighties. Is their anything I can do to lower the temp?
