Hi all,
Found this forum last night and am new here. I am particularly interested in aquatic salamanders. Also, pershaps to find out more on how to keep them in a tropical country like where I'm from (Malaysia) with the hot weather here.
Cheers,
Kenneth.

Hi Kenneth,

For tactics on keeping an aquarium cool during hot spells, I highly recommend you read this article: http://www.caudata.org/cc/articles/cooling.shtml.

And of course the forum has a wealth of information available at the tips of your fingers - by utilizing the search tool you will have access to invaluable and 'instant' information ;).

Welcome to the site!

Thanks Jacq.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
