I'm Florieke and I'm new at this forum. I'm from the netherlands and a medical student. I was raised with animals, but mostly furry or flying ones :p I wanted to get a reptile, but my search was inconclusive. I hate flying insects, so I really couldn't get an animal that ate those. On my queste I saw a picture of an Axolotl. First, I thought it was photoshopped, I didn't realise it was real! I got fascinated by it and searched all kind of information about it. Finally, I found someone in my country who wants to give up his 2 Axolotls (both 1 year old). My fully decorated and landscaped tank is waiting for them, I'm gonna pick them up tomorrow and I'm so excited!!

Today, I went to a fishing store to buy a worm-storing box. There were only a few men inside and they were looking at me as if I was walking inside the wrong shop and ment to be walking inside the shoe store next door....... It was really funny!! Especially when I asked if they had worms (the box could've been for my little brothers birthday or something). :proud:

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
