What is everyone using to disinfect handling supplies such as turkey basters, tweezers, etc...I feel like I should be doing more than disinfecting once or twice a week with a bleach and water solution. I try to avoid cross contamination as much as possible but it always seems to occur. So maybe I need a daily soaking solution?

I usually keep a five gallon bucket filled up with a heavy salt water mix for soaking of the utensils. Sometimes I add some methylene blue to the mix too. Can you tell I used to keep fish?

Hmm never though about the saltwater as a disinfectant. But when I was a reefer I used to keep stuff soaking in a freshwater bath with vinegar. So it makes sense.

This is a good question. I use a saltwater soak then a treated water rinse. It is quick considering I have two tanks plus a fish tank.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
