Does anyone have any ideas on how to keep axolotls fed regularly while owner is away on holiday?? I'm considering an automatic fish feeder using axolotl pellets? All advice greatly appreciated!

how long would you would be away for?

WHo will be doing your water changes while your away?
Im sure they could help feed them :D

The feeder seems like a good idea. Axolotls occasionally go off feed. Imagine the problems that could arise if the feeder dumped food in every day and none is eaten. I think getting a friend to stop in and feed the minimum amount needed is the best plan. If they are full grown axolotls and you are only going for a week I'd feed heavy before leaving and let it at that.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
