Hi everyone,

Just some pics of my axie Ive had him for about 3 weeks no. Ive been calling him half gills because of the peculiar gills he has, probably because someone took a bite out of him at the aquarium store.

Dont worry on the second pic he was flicking, his gill are still there. There is some new tissue at the ends of the gills, does anyone rekcon they'll grow back anymore?. He really does look like a little kid he is so cute

Well, his 'good' gills do look good! I wouldn't worry too much about it but if you can see new tissue forming it is a sign that the gills should restore their natural stance over time!

Hes very healthy and has a voracious appetite so I'm not worried. It looked like it happened a while back so I'm not worried about infections

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
