You may have woken up one morning and found 100s of axolotl eggs have been laid in your aquarium. Please check out the videos I have just uploaded to youtube and you will see just how much hard work and the length of time your female would have spent laying them... one... by... one...:

The last one shows the babies spinning inside the eggs whilst developing (speeded up x4):

There are a few other videos of my axolotls on youtube too and I may add some more when I have time to upload them. I think you could just search for my username there, which is 'joeyboylondon'.

I also thought I'd share a photo of a spermatophore and one of the 'Star of the Egg Laying Movies' in action (on the photo occasion I had taken her out of the aquarium and put her alone in a bowel of water from the tank as she was being attacked by others):

These videos are great, so interesting to watch! Doesn't look very comfortable for your poor axie though...poor girl having so many to push out :(.

Thanks for sharing that!

Outstanding video clips. I like the nice english accent too!

Rep points for you!

Very cool videos; thanks for sharing! :) I thought the spinning eggs were especially cute. ;D

I especially liked the last one. I wonder if the more active ones are more healthy in the long run.

Oh, sorry... I did Audioswap on the videos when I posted them but it took about a day to overwrite, so any talking is now gone!

Terrific! They are amazing and informative.Thank you for these.

Gasp!! No more accent??! It was such a highlight. English accents always sound so posh.

A posh English accent? I was hoping I might be hearing a Cockney, barrow-boy type voice, based on your location Ian!!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
