Hey does anybody know if the "superfish Aqua Flow 100" is any good for a 20 gallon tank? It is really cheap and it says it is suitable for 10-20 gallons.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Superfish-A...52HS/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1249504714&sr=8-5
It is probably crappy as i can't find much about it on the net although it does say it has a two year warranty...
Cheers,
J.

EDIT:
I just found this one for a 200-400 litre tank.

Which would be best? I think the second one :D

Prices:
The first will cost me €15 and the second will cost me €30 (as the cheaper price for the second will not ship to ireland)

Well I was thinking of getting the cheaper one to start with and see how it goes as it's only €15 and then later if needs be I can get the larger one. What do you think of that idea or should I get the larger one now or should I get a completely different filter?

Heya Jadore,

Can't really comment too much on the first one, but my experience of internal filters like the second one is that they're very enthusiastic with water flow and you'll DEFINITELY need a spraybar if you go with that one.

Well I just ordered this one:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Superfish-A..._1_7?ie=UTF8&s=outdoors&qid=1249575356&sr=1-7
It's for 20 - 40 gallons and is the size between the two I posted. I didn't notice it before as it looked like the same picture as the one for the smaller filter.
It should be here next week and I'll post then what it is like as they are cheap filters and i am a little skeptical about their performance.

Hi J,

In my experience the Superfish products are a bit like generic versions of trade name drugs and work fine as long as you keep the impellors clean. As this is the only bit that can really go wrong, it might be an idea to keep a spare impellor to hand because if it fails, it'll be on a bank holiday or another time when you can't get a quick replacement!

I will keep that in mind. I have one out of another filter that I don't really use but it is really small so it may not fit it but I shall see!!
Now I don't know if I will use this for my axie or my new turtle. I was buying it because I was going to use the axie filter for the turtle but I may just leave that how it is as at least I know that is working well and can cope with all my axie waste and try the new filter out with the turtle. I shall see.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
